Short description of the project:

Since Lake Balaton is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary, the development of transport and infrastructure in the area is a key issue. As a subcontractor, Homlok Zrt. is involved in the construction of the 205 km long Balaton Loop Bicycle Trail between Balatonkenese and Balatonfűzfő, which is one of the most scenic cycling routes in Hungary.

The following major technical works will be carried out as part of the project:

  • Implementation of cycling facilities on the section of the Balaton Loop Bicycle Trail between Balatonkenese and Balatonfűzfő, in a total length of 4188 meters.
  • The project covers the following 5 segments:
    • Balatonakarattya: construction of a bicycle path with a total length of 482 meters; construction of a new pedestrian and bicycle path as well as a separate cycle path after the demolition of the bicycle path running along main road no. 71;
    • Balatonkenese: construction of a bicycle path with a total length of 1161 meters; widening of the cycle path running along main road no. 71; rebuilding of the parking lots in front of Vak Bottyán Beach; and building an adjacent shared pedestrian and cycle path;
    • Balatonkenese: construction of a new bicycle path with a total length of 1050 meters; reconstruction of the existing railway crossing;
    • Balatonfűzfő: construction of a bicycle path with a total length of 606 meters; widening of the cycle path running along main road no. 71; widening of the service road; and building an adjacent shared pedestrian and cycle path, with a level crossing on railway line no. 29.;
    • Balatonfűzfő: construction of a cycle path with a total length of 889 meters. Construction of a new cycle path after the demolition of the existing path along Mocsár and Vitorlaház Streets.
  • Painting of pavement signs as well as placement of traffic signs and traffic equipment along the entire section;
  • On the entire section, 3 new bicycle crossings will be built, with light barriers; obtaining the associated building permits; preparation and comprehensive implementation of construction plans;

The project will be implemented using European Union funds and with the support of the Hungarian State, within the framework of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme.
